Jon Smith

My name is Jon Smith, and Anmore Village isn't just where I live — it's where I chose to plant roots, raise my family, and build my future.

For the past ten years, Anmore has been home. It's where I watch my daughters Elizabeth and Katherine grow into remarkable young women, where my sons Joshua and Ben took their first steps into adulthood, and where I found a community worth fighting for. Before that, I spent years serving Canada in uniform — learning leadership, discipline, and the meaning of putting others before yourself. Those lessons never leave you.

After my military service, I built a career in business, learning how organizations run, where they succeed, and — critically — where they fail. Today, I also serve as a volunteer firefighter in our community, because when your neighbours need you, you show up. That's not a political value. It's just the right thing to do.

Outside of work and community service, I spend my time exploring the frontiers of artificial intelligence and robotics, reading voraciously, and most importantly, being present for my four kids. Single parenthood has taught me more about prioritization, resourcefulness, and unconditional commitment than any boardroom or briefing ever could.

I am running for Mayor of Anmore Village as an independent — beholden to no party, no developer, and no political machine. Only to you.

Why I’m Running

Anmore Village is a gem. But a gem left unpolished starts to look ordinary.

I have spent a decade watching this community grow while our municipal services have struggled to keep pace. I've sat at the same community meetings you have. I've heard the same frustrations. And like many of you, I've waited for someone to step up and address them decisively.

I stopped waiting.

With a background in military leadership, business management, and community service, I bring exactly the kind of practical, no-nonsense experience that municipal governance needs. I'm not a career politician looking for a title. I'm a neighbour who sees real problems and knows how to solve them.

My four children have grown up in this village. My youngest daughters are still growing up here. When I think about the Anmore they will inherit — the services available to them, the infrastructure around them, the opportunities in front of them — I want better for them. And I want better for yours.

This campaign is about one thing: making Anmore Village work better for the people who live here.
